1st Christmas Blanket – 4 customizable panels
1st Christmas Blanket – 4 customizable panels

1st Christmas Blanket

This blanket has 4 customizable lettering panels. There is room for:
  • a last name,
  • special date (year or full month/day/year),
  • 2 first names
  • The name panels can also be used for any words you'd like, provided they fit.
Please click the image to see the full blanket design (it won't show the whole thing otherwise). IF A NAME IS MORE THAN 10 LETTERS, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE ORDERING.
  • This pattern is worked as one piece from the bottom up. I have marked the different panels in the pattern so you can change colors as desired.
  • This is a large blanket - perfect for two ❤ to snuggle under!
  • Finished Size: Approximately is 67 x 83.5/88.5 inches (176/189 rows tall - depending on length of Last Name, which changes the placement of 'the')
    • Hook: 4mm
    • Blanket Body: ~4,500 yards DK yarn
    • Border: ~400 yards DK yarn
  • Left handed? It doesn’t matter - just crochet this blanket as written. My patterns have been tested by left-handed crocheters and this does not effect the lettering panels.

Christmas Filet CAL (2022)
Christmas Filet CAL (2022)
There are FOUR versions of the 2022 Christmas Filet CAL. 3 one-piece blankets and a joined Granny Block Blanket. Both feature the same 12 gorgeous ornament designs. Well, technically, I think there are 5 versions - but no tester chose to do a solid-color blanket - but you could! In worsted (aran) weight the blanket will be the perfect size to use on the couch when the air gets a little chilly. Of course you can choose to make your blanket larger by adding more panels/rows/blocks or ornaments...or by using a chunky weight yarn (use a 6mm hook for Chunky) to give it some extra squishy warmth! The Christmas CAL blankets can also be made smaller/lighter y using a DK weight yarn (use a 4mm hook for DK). Granny Block Blanket Supply List - 46x46 inches
  • 137 yards worsted weight yarn for ONE block (includes the sc edging)
  • 22 yards per block for the granny round (using joining-as-you-go to join all the blocks)
    • Optional: To do continuous-join-as-you-go after all the blocks have an initial granny round you will need 352 additional yards of your border color. This version will be approximately 50x50 inches.
  • 200 yards worsted weight yarn for the border
  • 5mm Hook
  • 4.5mm Hook (for all Granny Stitch rounds)
  • Stitch Markers
One-piece Blanket Supply List - 43x43 inches
  • 1,716 total yards worsted weight yarn for the blanket body
    • Colored blocks: 143 yards per ornament
    • Colored columns 429 yards per column
    • Colored panels: 572 yards per panel
  • 5mm Hook
  • 4.5mm Hook (for all Granny Stitch rounds)
  • 200 yards worsted weight yarn for the border
  • Stitch Markers

Mr. Seahorse Blanket
Mr. Seahorse Blanket
Mr. Seahorse by Eric Carle is one of my kids' favorite stories, so I just had to do some seahorses to go with the sea turtles and baby belugas. :-) Pattern is written in numerical filet, which is quickly becoming the best filet reading and writing method out there! Clear instructions are given for this easy to understand pattern writing technique. All resizing directions are included too. CHART INCLUDED!
  • This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook; amounts and finished sizes are provided for DK (3 weight) yarns used with a 4mm hook.
  • Yarn amounts are given for
    • a one-piece baby blanket with a finished size of approximately 26” x 28"
    • a joined-block baby blanket with a finished size of approximately 29” x 30”
    • extra yardage has been added to the supplies list to help ensure you have enough yarn to finish your project.
  • This pattern can be increased in multiples of 32 sts across and 32 rows to make any size blanket.

  • This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook.
  • Yardage is given (page 4) for a finished blanket that is 33 inches by 30 inches (84 cm by 76 cm) using DK yarn & a 4mm hook

Deeper Pattern Details---

Pattern Notes
  • Gauge/tension - Not really crucial for this pattern, but for me (using the given yarn & hook size), one Hexie is 3.75 inches (9.5cm) from corner-to-corner and 3.25 inches (8cm) from side-to-side.
  • Finished Size -  33 inches by 30 inches (84 cm by 76 cm) using DK yarn & a 4mm hook.
  • Yarn - I’ve given the colors and brands for what I used in my blanket, but you can use any DK yarn you like best.
  • Variations - This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook, or be made larger by adding another ring of flowers, changing the flower layout, or by adding more background color Hexies. I have included a hexagonal graph (additional PDF file included with purchase) for you to play with color recipes and to help plan out other flower arrangements and larger blankets.

Deeper Pattern Details---

Stitches & Terms Used in this Pattern (US terms) Magic Ring - If you don’t like the Magic Ring: ch4, slst to first ch to join into a ring, then ch1 and proceed with the pattern stitches, working around the ring of chains. Your center hole might be a little larger than mine, but this won’t effect the rest of the pattern. rnd - round st - stitch sp - space slst - slip stitch ch - chain sc - single crochet dc - double crochet Granny Cluster (GC) - 3dc in same st/sp dc2tog - double crochet two together (also called a dc decrease) Bobble Stitch (Bobble) -
  • Yarn over (yo), insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. YO, pull through two loops (this is like completing the first “half” of a dc).
  • Repeat number one in the same stitch/space until you have a total of 6 loops on your hook - you will have made “half of a dc” 5 times.
  • YO & pull through all 6 loops at once.
Special Stitches in this Pattern Two of the below methods are totally optional. My round join technique isn’t however, since that is what will create the duel-color corners.  Standing Double Crochet (optional) - picture tutorial on page 3  Single Crochet Round Join - picture tutorial on page 4  Stacked SC (optional) - picture tutorial on page 5

  • Designed for DK yarn & a 4mm hook (or your personally preferred size for DK).
  • There are 9 different design panels total in this one-piece blanket design.
  • Each panel will use up about 480 yards of DK yarn. So use up those balls collecting dust on your shelves! I mean, if you have that much yarn sitting around, this is totally hypothetical. I wouldn’t know. 🙈
  • Size: 229 stitches by 189 rows before bordering
  • Designed to be a BIG blanket - great for a twin size bed. The design doesn't include custom width directions because one of the panels includes lettering.
