Love Squared
Pattern Notes
- This pattern is worked in the round (like a solid granny square) and turned for each new row.
- The pattern is written using my signature Numerical Filet style. No graph is included as there is not a way to make a filet chart that can be read in the round.
- This pattern can be made with any weight yarn & hook, but the finished sizes are as follows (using DK weight yarn and a 4mm hook):
- The one-piece baby blanket (with shell border) is approximately 34 inches (87 cm) square.
- A single granny square is approximately 8 inches (20 cm) square.
- Please read the Filet worked in the Round Help Guide on page 3 of this pattern before attempting to begin. Even if you have worked my filet patterns before!
Yarn & Supplies - Baby Blanket - DK yarn (light worsted / #3 / 8 ply)
- 1,400 total yards (1,280 meters)
- Rows 1-9 (a Granny Block): 61 yards (56 meters)
- Panel 1 (Rows 10-17 is a “panel”): 144 yards (131 meters)
- Panel 2: 237 yards (217 meters)
- Panel 3: 331 yards (303 meters)
- Panel 4: 427 yards (390 meters)
- Shell Border: 200 yards (183 meters)
- 4mm Hook
- Stitch Markers
Calculating Yarn & Sizing for Larger Blankets
- Each panel repeat (rows 10-17) adds about 6 inches to the width/height.
- Each panel uses the yardage of the previous panel + 94 yards (86 m) more. For example, adding a 5th panel to the baby blanket above would mean you take the amount of Panel 4 (427) PLUS 94 more - to get a total off 523 yards for this 5th panel. This would make the blanket 38 in chess square.
