2023 Temperature Filet CAL: Finishing

I think a celebration is in order! I am so proud that I finished a Temperature blanket. 😆 They are such a huge commitment with all the ends to sew – but I really think it was more than worth it. What do you think?

Ready to finish your own?

If you haven’t already – I know many of you are probably pros at continuous join as you go already!

Well, if you’re looking for some guidance – below you’ll find the video for joining the remaining rows (but don’t miss the instructions for Joining the First Row if you haven’t yet).

For those who aren’t into videos (or who already know the continuous join method) you can simply skip the video and use the Granny Formal below to border/join your blocks as desired. The granny formula for a whole block can be found just below the video.

If you missed part one you can watch it directly on Vimeo (ad-free) here or see my blog post with the video here.

Granny Formula (for one entire block): Join Filler Color in the top right corner of your block. Make a GC in this corner (this is half a Corner Cluster). * SK 2 sts, work (GC, sk 2 sts) across. Corner Cluster in corner st. Sk 2 sts, work (GC, sk 2 sts)x10, GCD, sk 2 sts, then (GC, sk 2 sts)x10 * Corner Cluster in corner st. Repeat between the * around the rest of your block. Finish the starting Corner Cluster by doing a GC, ch1, and then slst to your starting dc to join the round.

Cluster Count per side-

Top/Bottom: 15 clusters (1/2 corner cluster + 13 GC + 1/2 Corner Cluster = 15 total clusters)

Sides: 23 clusters (1/2 Corner Cluster + 10 GC + 1GCD + 10GC + 1/2Corner Cluster = 23 total clusters)

2023 Temperature Filet CAL – Post Locator

Finding this CAL after 2023? Please note these important pattern notes for the CAL-

  1. Do NOT cut your yarn color until you know what the next day’s temperature will be. Why? Because you can save on end sewing if the next day is in the same color range.
  2. Remember to ALWAYS TURN your block with each row – even if you are using a new color.
  3. With the exception of February, Row 2 will always begin the month’s colored temperature rows.
  4. New to my filet pattern writing style? Please read this guide before you attempt to begin.
  5. Those wanting a 2024 Block can find it in my shop!

January: you will need the year block for the year you are working. You can find a custom order for this in my shop – or you get one custom block with your ebook, if you want to do it that way.

A second row-joining post tutorial was intended after April…but was never made. 🫣 Pitfalls of attempting to run a business, homeschool 6 kids (5 grades), be a present mom, be a taxi driver, feed the masses, and oh yeah – be a wife, too! 😆 ….Wait – I know you’re now wondering about the house cleaning, laundry, and dishes (so many dishes). I don’t do much of that! I divide most of that stuff up between the kiddos. I vacuum, dust (sometimes), and do the deeper cleaning things. I am very strict about the kids not leaving their crap about the house. So, our house is probably the cleanest house of 8 you’ll ever enter. 😉 ANYHOW…please see the final CAL post for the tutorial that shows you how to join the second and remaining rows.
