April’s Shawl – Spring Vines
Pattern Notes
- This pattern is worked from the bottom up and turned for each new row. It has no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ side and can be worked as written for either right or left hand hook holders.
- Sizing: My shawl on the cover is 22 by 72 inches. Most people will want at least 3-4 height repeats (Rows 17-54) before going to the final 10 finishing rows. A good length to aim for is your height, this works well for most rectangular shawls for wearing wrapped or even as a wide scarf! I am 67 inches tall and I like my rectangular shawls a little longer than I am tall (I use 4 repeats).
- My Gauge/tension: 20 sts by 10 rows is about 4x4 inches (10x10 cm).
- I used one Azalea Cake from the center out, and then the next from the outside-in to keep the gradient flowing correctly.

What yarns are good for these shawl projects?
-
- As with all my designs, you can use ANY yarn that you like best along with the corresponding hook.
-
- The amount of yarn you use will greatly depend on how you like to wear your shawls, and of course the weight of your yarn, hook size, and personal tension will all play into the mix.
-
- I'll be giving yarn amounts for mostly Fine weight yarn to use up my hoarded Hobbii Azalea cakes. I'll also be using hand-dyed 4ply and acrylic DK for some of the patterns, too. So really - any yarn will do! It all depends on how warm you want your shawl to be and what yarn you have on hand...or what yarn you want to purchase. 😉
-
- I am purposely making sure all the patterns are repeatable so you can size them as needed to fit your yarn weight and your size preference! You could even turn them into blankets if you're a little more advanced & adventurous!
-
- The patterns will be mainly triangle shawls. There will be a couple wrap-syle shawls (long rectangular shape), and I may even decide to throw in a couple asymmetrical styles, too.
December Shawl
- This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook, but Fine (2) or DK (3) Weights are recommended depending on how warm you’d like your shawl to be. Yarn amounts will vary based on chosen weight and desired size.
- Shawl Sizing - I used 1106 yards and my shawl measures 80 inches tip-to-tip (increase-to-increase) and it is 35 inches measured down the center.
November Shawl
Pattern Notes
- This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook but I created the pattern using a hand dyed sock yarn (80% Superwash Merino + 20% Nylon) dyed by Northern Bee Studio in the ‘Wanton’ color way.
- The fabric created from this pattern is meant to be soft, loose, and stretchy. If you choose to use DK yarn, then I would recommend a 6mm-6.5mm hook. Keep in mind that if you choose to block your work, it should be very stretchy and will grow in size during this process.
- The base width of the pattern is 20 inches wide unblocked - and this changes to 25” blocked (stretching the width tight to its widest). The length will be a matter of personal preference. The yardage listed below should be plenty for all length preferences, as mine is over 7 feet at its unblocked length…which is awesome in my opinion (endless styling options at that size) but probably longer than most would prefer.
- 800 yards (or 200g) in sock weight yarn
- 5mm Hook
Spiderwebs Shawl (October’s Shawl)
First, you can find all the info for the Song Shawl CAL in this post.
- This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook.
- Size - 70 inches measured on the straight side (increase to increase) and 32 inches measure up the center (along the center corner line).
- A Note on gauge + yardage - Hobbii Azalea (Color #9) was used to create this pattern. My exact yardage was 874 yards. My gauge was 18dc + 10 rows = 4 inches. I used one whole cake.
- New to Mayhem & Majesty Triangle Shawl patterns? Please read the Help Guide on page 3 of this pattern before attempting to begin.
- Graphs shaped like a triangle shawl don’t exist. For that reason, none has been provided for this pattern. I believe providing the graph I used would cause more confusion than help because it can’t be read like a normal blanket graph. However, I am happy to provide you a copy if you ask - just drop me an email.
- 961 yards fine weight (2) yarn
- 4mm Hook
When September Ends Shawl
First, you can find all the info for this new CAL in this post.
- This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook, but Fine (2) or DK (3) Weights are recommended depending on how warm you’d like your shawl to be. Yarn amounts will vary based on chosen weight and desired size.
- Size - (not counting leaf edging) 62 inches measured on the straight side (increase to increase) and 34 inches measure up the center (along the center corner line).
- A Note on gauge + yardage - Hobbii Azalea (Color #10) was used to create this pattern. My exact yardage was 968 yards. My gauge was 18dc + 10 rows = 4 inches. I used one whole cake and needed 20 grams (90 yards) of a second to complete the leaf edge.

Siren Song Shawl
Siren Song Shawl
- This pattern is to be worked with a sock weight yarn. Something like a Hobbii Sultan, Azalea, or Dahlia which are caked gradient yarns look lovely with no effort on your part to change colors or weave ends!
- Yarn amounts are for a wrap with a finished size of approximately 20” x 72” inches (length will vary depending on personal preference) using sock weight yarn and a 3.75mm hook.
- GUAGE is approximately 11 dc by 6 rows = 2” square using sock weight and a 3.75mm hook. Meeting this isn’t crucial, but if you are a particularly loose crocheter, you might want to go down in hook size so your wrap isn’t a blanket.
- Blanket Anyone? The pattern has a simple marked repeat both on the Torah and n the numerical pattern which allows you to make a thinner shawl or a wider shawl - or even a blanket!
- Up to 2188 yards sock weight yarn (I used almost two Hobbii Dahlia cakes - it will depend on your desired length, and width - every person is different!)
- 3.75mm hook (4mm works just fine too)
