Pattern Notes

  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up and turned for each new row. It has no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ side and can be worked as written for either right or left hand hook holders.

  • This pattern can be made with any weight yarn & hook.
  • This pattern can be increased/decreased in multiples of 28 stitches, plus 17 more stitches. As you can see from Linda’s sample in the showcase post, it looks AMAZING worked in short rows, too!

What yarns are good for these shawl projects?

    • As with all my designs, you can use ANY yarn that you like best along with the corresponding hook.
    • The amount of yarn you use will greatly depend on how you like to wear your shawls, and of course the weight of your yarn, hook size, and personal tension will all play into the mix.
    • I'll be giving yarn amounts for mostly Fine weight yarn to use up my hoarded Hobbii Azalea cakes. I'll also be using hand-dyed 4ply and acrylic DK for some of the patterns, too. So really - any yarn will do! It all depends on how warm you want your shawl to be and what yarn you have on hand...or what yarn you want to purchase. 😉
    • I am purposely making sure all the patterns are repeatable so you can size them as needed to fit your yarn weight and your size preference! You could even turn them into blankets if you're a little more advanced & adventurous!
    • The patterns will be mainly triangle shawls. There will be a couple wrap-syle shawls (long rectangular shape), and I may even decide to throw in a couple asymmetrical styles, too.

  • This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook, but Fine (2) or DK (3) Weights are recommended depending on how warm you’d like your shawl to be. Yarn amounts will vary based on chosen weight and desired size.
  • Size - (not counting leaf edging) 62 inches measured on the straight side (increase to increase) and 34 inches measure up the center (along the center corner line).
  • A Note on gauge + yardage - Hobbii Azalea (Color #10) was used to create this pattern. My exact yardage was 968 yards. My gauge was 18dc + 10 rows = 4 inches. I used one whole cake and needed 20 grams (90 yards) of a second to complete the leaf edge.

Pattern Notes
  • This pattern is worked from the bottom up and turned for each new row. It has no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ side and can be worked as written for either right or left hand hook holders.
  • Sizing: My shawl on the cover is 22 by 72 inches. Most people will want at least 3-4 height repeats (Rows 17-54) before going to the final 10 finishing rows. A good length to aim for is your height, this works well for most rectangular shawls for wearing wrapped or even as a wide scarf! I am 67 inches tall and I like my rectangular shawls a little longer than I am tall (I use 4 repeats).
    • My Gauge/tension: 20 sts by 10 rows is about 4x4 inches (10x10 cm). 
The height repeat is 38 rows, so almost 16 inches (40 cm) per repeat is added to your shawl’s length - depending on your personal tension/gauge.
  • I used one Azalea Cake from the center out, and then the next from the outside-in to keep the gradient flowing correctly.

      • 1,748 yards (1,600 m) of #2 weight ‘fine’ yarn (also called ‘sport’ or ‘5ply’)

I hate writing product descriptions. I'm just not good at it! This wrap is AWESOME. How's that?
  • This pattern is to be worked with a sock weight yarn - like Sheepjes Whirl or other sock weight yarn.
  • Yarn amounts are for a wrap with a finished size of approximately 20” x 72” inches (length will vary depending on personal preference) using sock weight yarn and a 4mm hook.
  • GUAGE is approximately 11 dc by 6 rows = 2” square using sock weight and a 4mm hook. Meeting this isn’t crucial, but if you are a particularly loose crocheter, you might want to go down in hook size so your wrap isn’t a blanket.
Yarn & Supplies
  • Up to 2188 yards sock weight yarn (I used almost two Scheepjes Whirls - it will depend on your desired length, and size - every person is different!
  • 4mm hook
