This blanket can be made 3 ways-

  1. one-piece evenly space hearts
  2. one-piece off set hearts
  3. joined heart granny blocks

But then from there the coloring options are so many! You’ll want check out the Tester Showcase to see them all.

Patten Notes-

  • This pattern includes 3 different project options for making your Wonky Heart Blanket. Two are one-piece, and the third is a joinable granny block blanket.
  • These patterns can be made with any weight yarn & hook, but the finished size is for a one-piece is approximately 36.5 by 38 inches (93 by 97 cm) using the yarn & hook listed below to complete the base pattern as written and pictured – which is 4 hearts wide (x4 width repeat during panel 1).
  • The one piece blankets can be increased/decreased in multiples of 29 stitches across and 15 rows up to make any size blanket. 

All yarn amounts below are given for DK (a.k.a. 8ply/light worsted) yarn using a 4.5mm hook.

One-piece (116 sts wide + 5 panels)

  • 977 yards (893 m) blanket + sc edging total
    • 186 yards (170 m) per panel
    • 47 yards (43 m) per color blocked heart
    • 36 yards (33 m) sc edging
  • Border
    • 72 yards (66 m) dc rounds
    • 24 yards (22 m) sc/ch2 rounds
    • 102 yards (93 m) picot lace
  • 4.5mm Hook

Granny Block – 8.5 by 8 inches (21.5 by 20 cm)

  • 70 yards (64 m) total for one grannied block

Break down-

    • 55 yards (50 m) block + sc edging
    • 17 yards (15 m) granny round
    • Blanket Border amounts will be the same as the one-piece for to 20 joined blocks.
  • 4.5mm Hook

  • This pattern can be worked with any weight yarn and hook, but the exact yarn used for designing this blanket was Caron Simply Soft in Watermelon, Grape, Neon Pink, Perfect Plum, Soft Pink, and Grey Heather. 
  • Yarn Amounts - Please note that 10% has been added to my actual yardage to help account for looser tensions.
  • Finished Blanket Size - Using Caron Simply Soft (or similar worsted weight yarn) and noted hooks the completed strips are approximately 8x60 inches. The finished blanket will be 47x63 inches (following pattern as written).
