If you’re not a big fan of social media, then you may have missed the challenge I made you all my fellow crocheters: use your leftovers! I have a few big 20-gallon bins of yarn that are all leftover partial skeins. One for DK, one for aran, and one for worsted. Yes, technically aran and worsted are the same “#4 weight” on the labels, but I have found a pretty noticeable weight difference in UK labeled “aran” and US labeled “worsted” yarns – so I keep them separated.
I started all my squares back at the end of October, ad was able to make and join 56 in less than a month. And of course this is not the only crochet project I’ve been working on, so this really is a fast project.
I chose to use up some of my Stylecraft and Paintbox DK leftovers. Turns out I have 56 different colors (actually a few more than that in my bin, but 56 made a good blanket).
These squares are simple and super quick. The best part was it helped me use up yarn I had just sitting around – which felt really good. I think I’ll be repeating this project using my Paintbox aran leftovers next…though I don’t have nearly as many colors in that bin.
Do you have a lot of left over partial skeins? Or maybe just a large stash of FULL skins? Who doesn’t – am I right?! Sometimes that shelf, bin, or drawer full of left over yarn can feel overwhelming, so I challenge you to use it begin using it up.
