October marks the completion of this year’s Keep Calm crochet along! Below you will find the joining and bordering pattern.
Enjoy!
First, you NEED to read the supplies & info post to familiarize yourself with the following important pattern information:
- this year’s CAL options
- the supplies needed to create each month’s block
If you have never made a Mayhem & Majesty filet pattern before, you will want to read this post for Numericla Filet before attempting to begin!
If you would like a printable version of the entire Filet version of the 2025 Keep Calm CAL (with graphs) in eBook form, you can use the code: rainbowsparkle for 20% off. Find the Filet version here.
Stitches in the Pattern ~ US Crochet Terms
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- sk – skip
- ch – chain
- slst – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- dc – double crochet
- GC – Granny Cluster: 3dc in same stitch
- GCD – Granny Cluster Decrease:dc in st, dc2tog starting in the same st as previous dc and ending in the next st, then make another dc into same st the dc2tog finished in – you should have a 3dc “granny cluster” that is spread over 2 sc sts.Video Tutorial
- CC – Corner Cluster: (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in same stitch
- Bobble Stitch – dc5tog in same st
- Yarn over (yo), insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. YO, pull through two loops (this is like completing the first “half” of a dc).
- Repeat number one in the same stitch/space until you have a total of 6 loops on your hook – you will have made “half of a dc” 5 times.
- YO & pull through all 6 loops at once.
Making the Blanket
Joining Your Blocks
You can use whatever block joining method you prefer to join your blocks. I like to use the continuous-join-as-you-go method while I turn my blocks into granny blocks. The granny formula for the blocks is below. If you would like to learn continuous join-as-you-go, here is a link to a great photo tutorial by A Patchwork Heart. Just be warned that her tutorial uses UK terms (where she says ‘tr’ you need to make a ‘dc’).
Turning Filet Blocks into Granny Squares for Easy Joining
Initial Granny Round: Join your yarn in the top right corner st (or top left corner st for left handed hook holders) of your block and work a * Corner Cluster, sk 2 sts; GCD, sk 2 sts, (GC, sk 2 sts) repeat ( ) 17 times total; Corner Cluster in corner st; sk 2 sts, (GC, sk 2 sts) repeat ( ) 21 times total * Repeat between * once more; slst to first dc of starting Corner Cluster.
Top/Bottom: ½CC + 1GCD + 17 GC + ½CC = 20 GC total
Sides: ½CC + 21 GC + ½CC = 23 GC total
Corners: Ch1 sp
Granny Pom-Pom Border
Border Round 1: Once you have your blocks joined, do a round of Granny Stitch around your whole blanket. Do NOT add chains between the clusters (except ch1 in the corners). At the joined corners, work a GCD over the two adjacent corner spaces.

More Rounds: add more rounds of Granny Stitch, if desired.
Final Pom-Pom Round: WITH WRONG SIDE FACING (bobbles look best from the right side this way) Join new color into any corner (or keep with the color you have, but turn so you have the wrong side facing) with a sc and *ch7, Bobble in 3rd ch from hook, slst in ch beneath Bobble, ch3, sc between next 2 clusters * repeat between * around; join with a slst to first sc.
